- SHOW RULES

- 1. Only National Cage Bird Show members
may enter birds.

- 2. Entry fee shall be $2.00 per cage to a
maximum of $50.
- Entry fee for sale birds
shall be $2.00 per bird.

- 3. Separate entry forms are required for
each Division.
- Exhibitor assumes responsibility for
legality of his entry.
- Entry forms and cage tags will be available
starting 10am THURSDAY.

- 4. Entry forms must be completely filled
out and used as follows:
- White: to Show Secretary table by 9pm
Thursday.
- Pink and Yellow: to show hall with entries
prior to 7am FRIDAY.
- Pink and Yellow: exhibitor copy for
checkout after banquet SATURDAY.
- All white copies must be to Show
Secretary table by 9pm Thursday.
- No forms or tags will be sold Friday,
sale birds excepted.
- Entries will be received in the show hall 1
to 9pm THURSDAY.
- Entered birds may be brought to the show
hall between 6 and 7am
- Friday, however, these must be in the
secretary books Thursday.
- All birds will be on the benches by 7am
Friday, judging starts at 8am.
- American Singers require all entries be
made prior to 9pm Thursday.

- 5. All entries must be bona fide property
of exhibitor at least thirty (30)
- days prior to the show. To compete for the
Higgins Trophy all birds
- must be bred and banded by the exhibitor
except for Finch and
- Parrot divisions. These need not be banded.
Higgins winners and
- band numbers may be published in the NCBS
newsletter.

- 6. To compete in unflighted (young) classes
all entries must be bred and banded
- with a recognized, current year, traceable
and closed band. Secretaries
- please send band numbers of your members to
the NCBS Secretary
- .
- 7. All birds that are flighted, or with
open bands or unbanded, or with
- unrecognized or non-readily traceable
bands, must compete in the old
- (open) classes.

- 9. Any bird purchased within one year from
a judge cannot be shown at
- NCBS when that judge is officiating in that
division at the show. Any officiating
- judge or their team member, partner or
family member may not show in any
- Division of the current year.

- 9. Division winners from all song bird
divisions will compete for the Best
- Song Bird in Show award. All other division
winners, except the
- Youth Division, compete for the Scannell
Trophy.

- 10. Only one bird in a cage may be shown
except in Finch Pairs section.
-
- 11. Every possible attention will be given
to the care of the birds, but the
- National Cage Bird Show, Inc. and
sponsoring clubs will not be held
- responsible for any accident, mistake,
loss, theft or damage that may
- occur to any exhibit.

- 12. All birds must be checked on entering
and leaving the show room. After
- birds are entered and checked-in they are
under the care of the show
- management. They are not to be handled
except by direct permission
- of the show manager. If drinkers or
feeders are removed for judging by the
- stewards they should be replaced by the
stewards. If this has not been
- done the exhibitor should notify the show
management and have it done
- by those responsible for handling the
exhibit.

- 13. No birds, drinkers or feeders shall be
removed from their individual cages,
- except by the Chief Steward. While entered
in the show entries are under
- the control of NCBS.

- 14. Show management has the right to add,
combine or withdraw classes
- as the number of entries dictates.
-
- 15. No identification, signs or display
advertising will be allowed on or about
- any cage until judging has concluded.
-
- 16. Special awards given for club bands or
membership will not be awarded
- unless exhibitor's eligibility is indicated
on the entry form. All special awards
will be judged and/or presented after division judging has been completed.
-
- 17. Judging by daylight or Vitalite or
equivalent as the situation dictates.
-
- 18. Colorbred canaries will be judged by
the point system.
-
- 19. Cage bottoms should be covered with a
regular seed mixture relative to
- the particular species. Song birds use
white paper.
-
- 20. No steward is authorized to reclassify
an entry. Only a judge has the
- authority to reclassify an entered bird.
-
- 21. The judge has the right to withhold
awards if the judge feels the bird does
- not warrant the award. The judge is to
check bands after judging for bred
- and banded by the exhibitor.
-
- 22. Decisions of the judge are final.
-
- 23. Cut-off time for judging is 7pm Friday.
If the Division is not finished the
- judging will resume Saturday morning at
8am.
-
- 24. Entries shall be checked out one half
hour after the banquet Saturday night.
- Check-out procedures will be announced at
the banquet.
-
- 25. The NCBS Board of Directors reserves
the right to interpret all rules and
- regulations and arbitrarily settle and
determine all matters, questions and
- differences in regard thereto. It also
reserves the right to amend and add to
- these rules. All complaints must be written
and submitted with a $10.00
- fee to the Board prior to the completion of
the Scannell judging.

- 26. Youth Division entries are governed by
all rules listed above and Youth Division rules which are listed below:

- A. The period of eligibility is that the participant must be
enrolled in the 6th grade and continue until high school graduation.
B. Be present at the NCBS and comply with show catalog rules.
C. Complete separate entry forms for each general competition division.
Check the appropriate bird division for general competition on the form
and also check YOUTH DIVISION. Attach the general cage tag to the left
side of the cage. In addition attached a YOUTH IDENTIFICATION RIBBON to
the right side of the cage.
D. Turn in all entry sheets to the secretaries by Thursday evening of
the show.
E. Enter all birds by 7:30 am on the Friday of the show. Youth entries
will be included in the total division count of their respective divisions.
Show judges will begin judging youth division entries at 8:00 am on
Friday at their respective judging stands. Only one bird from a
division may qualify for the final scholarship judging.
Following the youth division judging, the steward will place all youth
birds in their designated classes for general competition. The youth
birds, in general competition, are eligible to advance based on merit
for division and other show awards.
The scholarship winner will be selected by the judges who had youth
entries in their division on Saturday immediately following the
Scannell judging. These judges will use a score card to rank the finalist.
A maximum of four scholarships may be won by any youth exhibitor. The
scholarship may be used at any fully accredited college or university
including community colleges, vocational schools, and technical
schools. The scholarship must be used at the first Fall enrollment
immediately following high school graduation. If a student accumulates
more than one scholarship, only one scholarship may be used per year.
Remaining scholarships must be used in consecutive years. Students must
notify the NCBS of their school enrollment and provide verification
from the school. The scholarship funds will then be paid directly to
the school for tuition, fees, and supplies.
