Youth College Scholarship - Since 2001, the NCBS in partnership with
Higgins Premium Pet Foods, has awarded a $1,000 college scholarship to
the Youth Division exhibition winner.

Eligibility Requirements:

1. The participant must have completed the 6th grade.

2. Be present at the NCBS and comply with show catalog rules.

3. Complete separate entry forms for each general competition division.
Check the appropriate bird division for general competition on the form
and also check YOUTH DIVISION. Attach the general cage tag to the left
side of the cage. In addition attached a YOUTH IDENTIFICATION RIBBON to
the right side of the cage.

4. Turn in all entry sheets to the secretaries by Thursday evening of
the show.

5. Enter all birds by 7:30 am on the Friday of the show. Youth entries
will be included in the total division count of their respective divisions.

Show judges will begin judging youth division entries at 8:00 am on
Friday at their respective judging stands. Only one bird from a
division may qualify for the final scholarship judging.

Following the youth division judging, the steward will place all youth
birds in their designated classes for general competition. The youth
birds, in general competition, are eligible to advance based on merit
for division and other show awards.

The scholarship winner will be selected by the judges who had youth
entries in their division on Saturday immediately following the
Scannell judging. These judges will use a score card to rank the finalist.

A maximum of four scholarships may be won by any youth exhibitor. The
scholarship may be used at any fully accredited college or university
including community colleges, vocational schools, and technical
schools. The scholarship must be used at the first Fall enrollment
immediately following high school graduation. If a student accumulates
more than one scholarship, only one scholarship may be used per year.
Remaining scholarships must be used in consecutive years. Students must
notify the NCBS of their school enrollment and provide verification
from the school. The scholarship funds will then be paid directly to
the school for tuition, fees, and supplies.
