Airline Policies Regarding Birds in the Cabin
Air Tran allows three
pets, including small “domesticated” birds per flight, service animals not
included. Reservations must be made in advance at 1-800-AIR-TRAN
(1-800-247-8726) or 678-254-7999 for international calls. No health certificate
is required. Cost is $65 each way. AIR TRAN DOES NOT ALLOW BIRDS TO BE
SHIPPED AS CARGO.
Continental Airlines will
only allow two pets per flight. Reservations for birds must be made in advance,
preferably at the time of passenger booking. Only birds in carriers that fit
under the seat are allowed. Continental does not require a health certificate.

Delta Airlines is the
most bird-friendly airline for traveling with birds in the cabin. However, they
do have rules and regulations that must be followed including a limitation on
the number of animals (including birds) that will be allowed in their flights.
Prior reservations are required but not health certificates. The cost is $50

Northwest requires

United Airlines is a very difficult airline to work with when it comes to birds in the cabin. They only permit canaries, finches and parakeets NO PARROTS, COCKATIELS, LOVE BIRDS or other types of birds are allowed. They also severely limit the number of birds PER PERSON to 2 and require advanced reservations for the bird. United charges $80 each way for pets.
